Using the email archive

Email archiving is a helpful feature that gives you a backup of all the emails to and from all of the users on your Hushmail account. It ensures that every message sent or received is saved, allowing you to retrieve important emails if needed. This is especially important for maintaining HIPAA compliance.

How email archiving works if you're using your own website or a custom domain (like yourpractice.com or yourpractice.hush.com)

  • When you sign up for a Hushmail account with a custom domain or website address, an archive email account is automatically created.
  • The archive account will have an address like archive@yourpractice.com.
  • This address uses the same passphrase as your admin account when you first sign up.
  • The archive automatically stores a copy of every email sent or received by every user on your Hushmail account.

How to access your email archive

  • Sign in to your archive account just like any other Hushmail account.
  • The archive will have a name like archive@yourpractice.com, and the passphrase will match your admin account at the time of sign-up.
  • You can search the archive using specific search terms to find the emails you're looking for.

Note: The archive account doesn’t count as an additional user on your plan.



How email archiving works if you're using one of our domains (like yourpractice@hushmail.com or yourpractice@therapysecure.com)

If your Hushmail account uses one of our domains, like yourpractice@hushmail.com or yourpractice@therapysecure.com, your email archiving works a bit differently. Instead of a separate archive account, you have a Compliance Archive folder within your main account.

How the Compliance Archive works

  • A Compliance Archive folder is automatically created in your account when you sign up.
  • This folder stores a backup copy of every email you send and receive, ensuring your account remains HIPAA compliant.

How to access your Compliance Archive

  • Sign in to your Hushmail account.
  • Once signed in, open the Compliance Archive folder to view your backed-up emails.
  • The folder contains copies of all emails you’ve sent and received.

This built-in archive ensures your practice’s emails are securely backed up while helping you maintain HIPAA compliance.

Note: The emails in the Compliance Archive folder don’t count toward the storage space of your main inbox.
