How to enter your business name during signup

When signing up for our Hushmail for Healthcare plan, we require a business name to create your Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for HIPAA, or your Information Manager Agreement (IMA) if you’re outside the U.S. This agreement supports your compliance with HIPAA, or other healthcare and data privacy laws. Here’s how to determine what to enter based on your situation:

✅ If you have a registered business or operate under a DBA (Doing Business As):

• Enter your legal business name exactly as it appears on your business license, tax documents, or other official records.
• If you operate under a DBA (Doing Business As) name, you can enter that instead.

Example:

✔ Correct: "Mindful Therapy Group LLC"

✘ Incorrect: "Mindful Therapy" (missing legal designation, e.g., LLC, Inc., if applicable)

Example if you operate under a DBA (Doing Business As) name:

✔ Correct: Raymond Rogers DBA Mindful Therapy

✘ Incorrect: Mindful Therapy 

✅ If you’re a student or trainee:

• Enter your full name.
• Do not reference your university or institution that you are working with

Example:

✔ Correct: "Raymond Rogers”

✘ Incorrect: "Student at XYZ" (do not reference your institution)

✘ Incorrect: “Raymond Rogers – University of XYZ Practicum" (do not reference your institution)

✅ If you haven’t set up a company or started your practice yet:

• If you're planning to launch your private practice or business but haven’t formally registered it yet, please enter your full name for now.
• Once your business is officially set up, you can contact us to issue you a new agreement to sign under your business name.

Example:

✔ Correct: "Raymond Rogers"

✘ Incorrect: "Rogers Wellness Clinic" (enter your personal name for now if your business is not officially registered yet)

✅ If you’re a sole practitioner using your personal name:

• If you operate under your full legal name (e.g., "Raymond Rogers” and have no registered business entity or DBA, you may enter your personal name as your business name.

Example:

✔ Correct: "Raymond Rogers”

✘ Incorrect: "Raymond" (incomplete)

🔄 Changes to your situation or business

If the business entity you are operating under changes — please contact our Customer Care team. We’ll be happy to update our records and issue you a new BAA or IMA to sign reflecting your updated business details.
