What are POP & IMAP?

Mail clients like Microsoft Outlook, Mac Mail, and the email app on your smartphone can download email from your Hushmail account by connecting to our POP or IMAP servers. When you set up your email software, you will be asked to choose between POP and IMAP. We recommend choosing IMAP.

What's the difference?

POP

POP only allows you to access the contents of your Inbox, and all the email you download will be stored on your computer. This means the mail may only be visible in that particular mail program, rather than in our webmail interface or another device.

IMAP 

IMAP allows you to access any folder in your Hushmail account and to manage your email and folders on our servers. Any changes you make to your email or folders in your email software will be visible when you next sign in to webmail.
