Sending email to people who do not use Hushmail

Your Hushmail account functions just like a regular web-based email account. You can send email to anyone with an email address, regardless of which email service or software they are using.

If the recipient of your email does not use Hushmail, you can choose to send without encryption or to send with encryption using a secret question and answer.

To send without encryption

If you choose to send without encryption your email is sent just like a regular email sent from any other email service.

  1. From the Compose window type in the address you want to send to in the To: field.
  2. Make sure the Encryption check box is not checked.

To send with encryption using a secret question and answer

If you choose to use a secret question and answer the recipients will have to answer your question before the email can be decrypted.

  1. From the Compose window type in the address you want to send to in the To: field.
  2. Check the box next to the word Encryption.
  3. Type a secret question that can only be answered by the recipients of your email.
  4. Type the answer to the question. Answers are case insensitive (A is the same as a), and spaces, periods, commas, and hyphens will be ignored.sendencrypted.png
