Thunderbird 2 (POP)

Please note: POP & IMAP are available only to Hushmail Premium with Desktop Access and Hushmail Business with Desktop Access subscribers.
After you have set up Thunderbird 2 to access your Hushmail account, set up Enigmail to encrypt, decrypt and digitally sign your email.

Set up Thunderbird 2 to work with Hushmail (POP)

  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings, then Add Account, then select Email Account and click Next.
  2. Type your name and email address in the space provided. When you have finished, click Next.


  3. Type your server settings as shown below. When you have finished, click Next.

    Server type: POP
    Incoming Server:
    Outgoing Server:


  4. Enter your full email address in the Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name fields. When you have finished, click Next.


  5. Click Finish.


  6. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings and then Outgoing Server (SMTP). Click and then click Edit.


  7. Enter your SMTP server settings and then click OK.

    Server Name:
    Port: 587
    Use name and password: Yes
    User Name: your full email address
    Use secure connection: TLS


  8. Select Server Settings, then select SSL for Use secure connection.

    Click OK.


  9. When asked to enter your password, enter your passphrase.


If you're having trouble sending email, try again with the following alternate SMTP server settings:

Alternate SMTP server 1

Server hostname:
Port: 587
SSL: Enabled (instead of TLS)

Alternate SMTP server 2

Server hostname:
Port: 465
SSL: Enabled (instead of TLS)
