Thunderbird 3 (POP)

Please note: POP & IMAP are available only to Hushmail Premium with Desktop Access and Hushmail Business with Desktop Access subscribers.
After you have set up Thunderbird 3 to access your Hushmail account, set up Enigmail to encrypt, decrypt and digitally sign your email.

Set up Thunderbird 3 to work with Hushmail (POP)

You can download Mozilla Thunderbird for free.

  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings, then click Account Actions, and finally click Add Mail Account.


  2. Type your name, email address and passphrase in to the space provided.

    When you have finished entering your account information, click Continue.


  3. After Thunderbird detects your account settings, click Edit.


  4. Enter your account information as shown below. When you have finished, click Create Account.

    Username: your full email address
    Incoming: POP 995 STARTTLS
    Outgoing: SMTP 587 STARTTLS


  5. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings and then Outgoing Server (SMTP).

    Click Set Default.


  6. Click Edit and confirm that your full email address is displayed in the User Name field.

    Click OK.



If you're having trouble sending email, try again with the following alternate SMTP server settings:

Alternate SMTP server 1

Server hostname:
Port: 587
SSL: Enabled (instead of TLS)

Alternate SMTP server 2

Server hostname:
Port: 465
SSL: Enabled (instead of TLS)
