Outlook 2003 (IMAP)

Please note: POP & IMAP are available only to Hushmail Premium with Desktop Access and Hushmail Business with Desktop Access subscribers.

Set up Outlook 2003 to work with Hushmail (IMAP)

  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.

  2. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

  3. Select IMAP and click Next.

  4. Type your account settings as shown below. When you have finished, click More Settings, not Next.

    User Information
    Your Name: your name
    E-mail Address: your email address

    Server Information
    Incoming mail server: imap.hushmail.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.hushmail.com

    Logon Information
    User Name: your full email address
    Password: your passphrase

  5. Select the Outgoing Server tab.

    Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

  6. Select the Advanced tab.

    Under Incoming server (IMAP), select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).

    Under Outgoing server (SMTP), select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).

    Click OK.

  7. Click Finish.

  8. Click Close.
  9. Download and install the Hushmail for Outlook plug-in to add encryption features to Outlook.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble sending email, try again with the following alternate SMTP server settings:

Alternate SMTP server 1

Server hostname: smtp.hushmail.com
Port: 587
SSL: Enabled

Alternate SMTP server 2

Server hostname: smtp.hushmail.com
Port: 465
SSL: Enabled
